Until June 2007 Ron was Senior Vice President, Operations at Agricore United – at the time Canada’s largest agribusiness. Reporting to the CEO Ron was responsible for all grain and crop input operations utilizing $1.4 billion of assets and $3 billion in sales.
Ron was in this role from 2005 until the company was taken over by Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and subsequently renamed Viterra. Ron joined the Company as a Research Analyst, and served in a number of management capacities in business development including leadership positions in marketing research consulting, corporate marketing, process improvement initiatives, new business development and country operations. He represented the company as a Board Director for several businesses and Joint Ventures.
Ron gained experience in the agricultural sector as a commercial farmer and as a Farm Management Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Winnipeg, a Diploma in Agriculture and a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Manitoba. He is married with 3 adult children.
Ron has been involved with several not for profit Boards including the Winnipeg Folk Festival (served on Executive, Governance and Nominations, and Finance Committees), Concordia Wellness Projects Inc., and IDE Canada ( serving as Chair) and IDE International (Program and Executive Committees) as well as several local church committees.
